Liner notes:

OOTD: Probably my favorite song of 2019. Jangle pop that sounds so timeless, like it could be from 1982 or 1994 or ..
CANON: From 1993, a band and an album that kinda got overlooked in the ’90s, but I always loved.
TY: A genuine, heartfelt song about friendship and a very nice compliment.
LMGTFY: Interesting lyrics that literally made me look them up, pre-contest, to figure them out.
NEW PHONE WHO DIS: I had literally forgotten about Pete Yorn until, coincidentally, right before this contest. But damn, I loved that album back in 2001.
AF: Honestly, until this contest I didn’t know the lyric was “I won’t fuck us over…”
OBV: I love the ’80s sound here, and since this is a one word title….
RULZ: Also a deliciously ’80s sound, so I thought they went well together.
TL;DR: Maybe my second-favorite song of 2019, that I just had to add somehow. A banger.
FOMO: Saw them in May and they almost made me deaf. Worth it.
BRB: Went into hibernation in 2001, came back in 2010, and thank goodness for that.
Y2K: From the best album of 1999. Could have been any of about a half dozen other songs from “Summerteeth,” but I liked how this one worked.
IMHO: A classic, and a sentiment we’ve all probably felt in recent years.
TFW: Such a raw, confessional song about an unrequited teenage crush. All the feels.
YOLO: The new unofficial state song of California, and its all-too-familiar story kills me every fire season.
DUPE: This tribute album has two great covers of this song, but this one is more different than the original, yet still heartbreaking.
FML: Just a beautiful, haunting song about death & loss. <<sob>>
BFF: Mark Ronson is BFFs with everyone, and this is a banger of a breakup song.
NFLX: A private eye with a price on his head has 24 hours to track down a missing heiress before the mob does: “Midnight City,” coming to Netflix in 2020. (Not really)
TL: Takes 3 1/2 minutes to get to the refrain, but when it does, man, it soars.
